Life in the Fog

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive;
and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

New Year's Eve Shoes

I've been gone a long time; not that anyone would notice!  But that's okay.  I have an obsession with fashion that I doubt will go away, even when raising a family.  If only I had the time to blog while working a full-time job and raising a toddler!

Enough of that!  I was on Shopbop looking for a few fun, pieces as part of the after-Christmas sales. Instead I found these beauties that I'm swooning over.  I may go to bed dreaming about them...

New York Fashion Week from Christmas past

With the frigid weather keeping the fashionistas bundled up or running for cover from the taxi to anywhere there's warmth, it's unfortunate that there's a lack of inspiring street style typically photographed during this time of year.  So I dug around for photos from previous seasons of New York Fashion Week and swooned when I came upon these stylish women (and man) from Spring 2016 - everything from classic black on black to off-the-shoulder ruffles, cream culotte pants, the nonchalance of carrying a Birkin, a duo personifying the very definition of elegance, the next navy structured blazer, and side embroidered pants.   (Photos by Tyler Joe and Diego Zuko from Harper's Bazaar and Elle Magazine)

Bespoke for women

If you're cleaning out your closet for the new year and looking at your things wondering what you were thinking when you purchased the item - it either doesn't fit or it was so trendy that you only wore it for one season, you've probably decided your new fashion mantra is less is more or to only invest in forever pieces.  I've been interested in purchasing bespoke clothing for quite a while now, particularly a bespoke suit as my investment piece, and if I ever had the chance to visit Hong Kong or London, it would be on my list of things to do - get measured and paw through endless samples of fabrics of my choice.

Alas, I'm terrified of spending a good amount of money on a bespoke suit; what if my weight fluctuates for the last half of my child bearing decade?  A safer alternative in taking bespoke baby steps would be fabulous Capri sandals by Canfora.  I can wear them with jeans on warm October days in San Francisco or trips to Pescadero Beach.
