Life in the Fog

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive;
and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

Obsessed with Maison Michel hats

I'm normally not a hat person, but I may well be after seeing these creations by couture millinery Maison Michel of Paris which was founded in 1936 and is now owned by Chanel.  Well no wonder.  I've got my eye on the creme/gray fedora which is more versatile and wearable for any season, although the other colors in burgundy, blue, and black with red trim would be a nice pop of color to an all-black outfit.  Sadly there is no free-standing store here in San Francisco but they are available on Net-a-porter.com. Maybe I can convince the husband another trip to Paris in the new few years.  I'm already aching for the City of Lights and usually the 3rd time's the charm!

Lilly Pulitzer for Target

Apparently Lilly Pulitzer has created designs for Target and will be out April 19th.  I haven't been this excited since Missoni and Target teamed up years ago.  Unfortunately I couldn't get my hands on any of the goods since I had work on opening day and most of the stuff sold out online within minutes.  Lilly Pulitzer's colorful Palm Beach inspired designs is a fog dweller's dream and instantly makes me conjure up vacation ideas to Turks and Caicos or traipsing in the South of France.  Here a few things I've got my eyes on...

Modern Pearls

I don't quite know how or when it happened, but early this year I've been constantly wearing these classic stud Majorca luminous pearls my mother gave me years ago and thank God I never gave them away.  The only other time I wore pearls was once at my wedding two years ago.  I have a new found appreciation for them, especially when you're in your thirties, they bring a nice subtle glow to the skin.

Lately I've been eyeing pearls by Mikimoto and I must say, I love their modern yet sophisticated ad campaign.  I'm also obsessed with the black pearls which would go with any outfit or whether you're having dinner in the hip Mission district or family friendly West Portal.

Golden Gate Park

The California Academy of Sciences offered free admission for our SF neighborhood last weekend so we decided to head over there and check it out.  My highlights were the earthquake simulation of 1989 and 1906 that'll rattle your brain, the butterflies fluttering about the bio-dome rain forest, and the living roof which has amazing views of Golden Gate Park and Sutro Tower.

Beautiful Golden Gate Park

 The de Young Museum - I caught a Vivienne Westwood exhibit here years ago.

Ramps winding up the bio-dome.
The temperature in the bio-dome is humid so it helps to wear layers!
