Life in the Fog

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive;
and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

I just love, love, love this look - perfectly preppy but tomboyish and edgy.

Louise et Cie

I discovered the Louise et Cie line during Nordstrom's anniversary sale last month after spotting the Azalya wedge flats - not only are they are super comfortable but I love how edgy they look with the leather bows and silver metal arrowheads as tips . The bonus is the packaging - I'm a sucker for elegant, sleek shoe boxes and I didn't want to throw these out.

I was also eyeing the Oroyo wedge sandals, but alas, they were out of my size.

Olivia Palermo and Westward Leaning

I always get excited when I discover new San Francisco-based fashion companies, particularly when one teams up with a celebrity whose style I really admire, Olivia Palermo.  Hard to believe I haven't heard of Westward Leaning, considering they were founded in 2011.  Located on 330 Townsend, Westward Leaning designs sunglasses with a charitable philosophy.

Sleek Satin

Bionda Castana Lama Mesh Pumps

With one week off before starting my new job, I've been cleaning out my closet and I can't believe how long I've kept some things with me.  I do end up feeling guilty and I tell myself I may wear it again someday, but if it's shoved in the back of the closet and doesn't get worn at least once a month - it's gotta go!  I have some favorites that I can never part with - a deep, rich brown velvet Max Azria pencil skirt that my mom bought for me during college, and then there are others that make me cringe - clothes from my super twenties clubbing days that as a thirty-something, I would never wear again.

During my time off, I've been doing some serious, I mean serious late night online window shopping, that my husband texted me, "You got a new job, not the winning lottery ticket."  Jokes aside, I've been eyeing some sleek satin that I'd love to add my now roomy closet.  I love how they convey structure yet modern sophistication - clothes that my twenty-something self would probably balk at.

Brooks Brothers Summer Clearance

As much as I enjoyed working and making new friends at an electronics company I've been with for the past 7 years, I am so excited to start a new chapter in my career and move into a new position with a new company.  The best part is I still get to live and work in the beautiful city of San Francisco.  It doesn't get any better than that; I just count my blessings every single day.

I really tried, I mean really tried to restrain myself with celebratory purchases, but I just couldn't help it. With one week off, I thought it was the perfect time to clean my closet out and start fresh and I couldn't think of a better place to shop for a new wardrobe than the enormous, 4-story Brooks Brothers shop on Post Street.  The timing is also perfect considering they have a summer clearance going on now.

This non-iron, tailored fit dress shirt was a recent purchase.

Ever since my first purchase of a non-iron, button-up shirt by Brooks Brothers  in powder blue a few years ago, I can never go back to any other brand for classic button-up shirts.  The quality and stitching of a Brooks Brothers shirt is impeccable and I just love how versatile the look is with jeans or trousers.
