Mount Davidson
I took one of my closest friends, Janice to Mount Davidson last weekend and like most Bay Area residents (let alone SF locals)- she had never heard of it. It's a great alternative to Twin Peaks - it's a fairly easy walk up given that the ground isn't moist or muddy and on a clear day you get spectacular views of downtown. And the best part is that it's never crowded- you could easily plop right down on the grass and relax, meditate, or have a picnic if you wanted to. The bonus is if you climb up the steps to the top of the peak, you'll see a gigantic concrete cross about three to four stories high dedicated to Armenians who suffered during WWI genocide.
